REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – One more dead whale has washed ashore on Delmarva.
Officials in Rehoboth Beach say a dead whale carcass was spotted in the surf at Deauville Beach. City officials say they have contacted the Marine Education, Research and Rehabilitation Institute to investigate.
Multiple dead whales have washed ashore in the past year on Delmarva, including one on Assateague Island and one on the Chesapeake Bay side of Northampton County. A recent study by scientists in Maine found that whale and boat collisions may be more common than scientists previously thought.
